To the right you can see a picture of me in my wearable computer. Yup: that's me at the tender age of 17. That was back when I—as you should no doubt note—lacked an appreciation for the tying of ties, cared not about the fittedness of shirts, and had a general misunderstanding of what attracts the opposite sex. That is not to say, however, that I have since attained such qualities… but I do not know how to finish this sentence.

I wore this thing for the better part of a year. In high school. I'd like to think it was primarily an elaborate social experiment. But, then again, I'd also like to think that unicorns exist and that the Earth was populated by a strange race of crystal-skulled alcoholic aliens that are somehow connected to Dan Aykroyd.

The computer consisted of a Toshiba Libretto 50 notebook running Linux. The entire contraption was powered by a huge NRG Research battery belt. This thing had enough juice to run for almost 12 hours straight! The Nerd Helmet I'm wearing in the picture is a pair of old i-glasses that gave me a blurry 640x480 screen superimposed on my regular vision. The display was fed by a cheap VGA scan converter. In my right hand is a first generation Twiddler one-handed chorded keyboard and mouse.
